Old Hindu temples are a unique feature of the Indian civilization. They are not constructed by any Engineer’s. They were well planned and constructed with an intention of worship. The temple is a centre of Social, Religious and Cultural activities, such as civic meetings, religious and philosophical discussions, recitation, introduction of new literacy compositions, exhibition of the individual achievements in fine arts like music, dancing, festivals and feasts and the like.
During Chandra Gupta era 320 A.D. Gupta painting is represented by the excellent specimen at Ajanta and other cave. The narrative paintings at Ajanta reveal several contemporary life and depict charming and delicate scenes of home, palace, life, toilet, sport facilities and processions. So also the iron pillar at Delhi and the eight feet copper image of Buddha reveal their skill in metallurgy.
