Evidence of the impressive and advanced architectural accomplishments of the Egyptian people are evident in the ancient pyramids, obelisks and fortresses that are found throughout the country. Kiln-dried and sun-dried stone blocks were used extensively in the construction of Egyptian homes, temples and other buildings, and the post-and-lintel construction method was developed to create monumental structures including the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx.
