Bangladesh

Every year National Crafts Council of Bangladesh organises handicraft fairs and the Master Craftsperson Awards. In the winter season many more handicraft fairs are organised in different areas of Bangladesh. At these fairs, handmade paper, jewellery, tiny statues, pottery, sea shell bracelets, paintings, embroidery, garlands, and a large variety of fabrics are on display. Apart from finished products, visitors can see demonstrations of how the products are crafted: a weaver is busy at his loom, a potter models vases while a jeweller hammers metal into exquisite bracelets. The fair is a marvellous opportunity for consumers to connect with artisans. In addition, Dhakaittes have a chance to see many traditional handicrafts at a single venue without having to go to the remote villages where the crafts are made. Handicrafts are a unique expression of art which represents a culture, traditions and heritage in a country. They beautifully keep ages-old culture alive and maintain their exotic legacy and tradition. Every country has its own unique handicraft style, bringing forth diverse historical aspects in their essence. Highlighted with distinct designs and finish, handicraft items speak loud and clear about the excellent artistic skills of craftsmen which makes the pieces absolutely invaluable.
